Postcards from Borneo

01.08.2020

On my journey into the lush rainforest of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo i Malaysia, I visited a family-run pepper farm deep in the landscape. The farm was located near a river, surrounded by dense, jungle-like vegetation.

The pepper plant (Piper nigrum) is a climbing vine grown on poles and living support trees, often in hilly terrain where agriculture and rainforest blend together.

Sarawak Pepper is an internationally recognized quality name for both black and white pepper from the region. It is known for its clean strength, fresh aroma, and distinctive flavor, and is prized by chefs and food lovers around the world — a spice shaped by climate, craftsmanship, and tradition.
